Oh hoppy day! South Africa is entering the hops growing space.

We attended a beer brewing course in February and the course leader, a lovely chap with both practical knowledge and beer-related anecdotes, explained that there aren’t too many places in the world that can grow hops. To cultivate hops, the climate must be temperate and moist, which means that much of the world’s production occurs near the 48th parallel north.

With beer a more popular drink than ever before, and craft brewing in the news day-in and day-out, imagine our delight to hear that South Africa has entered the hops-production sector!

The hops grown in South Africa is apparently highly sought-after for its flavour.
